Round 3 – Sugar Reset
I’m doing quite well at the moment resetting and getting back onto getting sugar-free. Step 1 is going as planned and next week I hope to eliminate fruit as the next step. It will be interesting how I go. I am quite worried but I guess that it is the pressure I am putting on myself to achieve this. I guess I just need to get over it and then I can go back into re-introducing fruit and ‘good’ sweeteners into my life.
I have been finding it incredibly frustrating with the amount of products on the shelves of the supermarket that contain added sugar/sweeteners when the products claim they don’t claim to have added any. It is so misleading and annoying. Even milk that I thought would not have it added, have it in there but it is not listed as ingredients that are less than 5% of the total ingredients are not required to be listed. How ridiculous is that? It does make buying ‘packaged’ products very difficult. Although I am trying to reduce the amount of packaged products in my life, there are some things that can’t be bought without it being made in a factory. Bread, wraps, crispbread. Does anyone have anything else to substitute? I need my carbohydrates as I notice that I am not able to function very well if I don’t have them and am quite hungry when not eating it with my protein.
The goal for this weekend is to complete the mini-milestone set out in the program and to be very conscious of the food that I eat has to be clean. I will keep myself busy with my packing and during the games I will have some healthy snacks to munch on, some popcorn and some vege sticks with homemade hummus. Next week’s meal plan looks very good and will be having meat again. This week was very light on meat so it will be nice to have that to get over the no fruit phase of my plan. I see nut consumption going up a little to get over that hump.
Weight-wise back on track after a few weeks of mishaps. I’ve been keeping my calories between 1400 – 1700 calories a day and been trying to get about 500 calories burnt during workouts. I did add in a little extra cardio this week to keep the progress going and to burn some of the extra calories that I had eaten during the day. The problem with grazing I think. I’m going to research over the weekend some other good snacks to include other than the usual that I have. Time to mix it up I think.
So thats it for today and my weekend battle plan.
RIP Steve

If you’re trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I’ve had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it. - Michael Jordan
