I went a bit crazy this weekend. I blame boredom. I was out and Priceline (bless them, my favourite store) were having 3 for 2 sales on cosmetics. I couldn’t resist getting some lipsticks from Rimmel. I needed a bit of an update as I am about to trash a few old lippys that are way past their use by date.
I purchased 2 shades and a lipliner. The one on the left is Birthday Suit and the one on the right is Soft Coral. They are pretty nude on me and I like that. I tried red lipstick once but not too keen on how they look on me even though they say it is the most flattering colour on anyone. I need someone to teach me how to wear it.
I also got this set of mascara which comes with 3 types of mascara also from Rimmel, only $20… faint.
Max volume flash, volume flash that max bold curves and a waterproof version of max volume flash.
I haven’t tried these yet but I hope they are good. I’m on the verge of revamping my mascara collection because I realised I have too many. Some good, some bad, some old and should not even be used anymore.
I also picked up this concealer from Bourjois. It’s part of their new “bio organic” range. I tried it today and I wish they had a tester when I bought it. It’s a bit too dry for my liking. I felt like I had to put a lot on to get the coverage I wanted. Not entirely sure what the aim of it is about. I think I’ve been too used to my MAC concealer and how creamy it is. I do love the smell of it. Not too chemical which is a change. I will give it a chance and see how it goes. I may instead of using it as a concealer use it as a highlighter because I also thought the shade was just a little too light.
I received my Urban Decay Naked Palette the other day. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It is so hard to find and found it on Amazon and promptly purchased it so I wouldn’t miss out. I do realise I was somewhat ripped off on postage but HECK I HAVE IT!! The primer potion is pretty good too but I don’t really have a problem with creasing of eye shadow.
So there you go. My obsession with make up continues… Sigh. I need to stop so badly… Till next time.
I bought these at BigW today after seeing Sam from Pixiwoo wearing them and I remembered a video they did about some false nails. These are amazing. They have little tabs on them that make application really easy. Now I’m not sure if these are the exact same brand but the French tips on these are somewhat slim but not as slim as the ones Sam was wearing. I like them still. Easy to apply. Only mistake I made was wiping the nails with nail polish remover containing acetone. Either way the nails still look ok. They just don’t feel smooth anymore. Opps.
The box contains 28 nails in 14 sizes. These are for smaller hands. I have tiny hands and thankfully all the sizes provided are within my nail size. The box also contains glue, manicure stick and a nail file.
This is my nail now. It took me about 20 mins to glue them all on. The first one was a bit fiddly but after that it was easy. I’m going to see how long they last and if they really don’t chip.
I had been hearing a lot about Laura Mercier from watching Youtube videos by Pixiwoo and today I picked up this wonderful set.
It has 6 colours which are all suitable for work and play. 1 blush, 1 eyeliner, 1 lip gloss and 1 mascara. It is pretty much the best of the best. It also includes an eyeshadow and liner brush as well. I think I will be using this a lot over the next few months. I saw this look when I was in Priceline today and I really wanted to do this for work. Obviously toned down a bit because you know, I do work in an office and really it’s not practical.
Anyhoo, that is all from me today. Tomorrow I start my 12 week body transformation. I have already sorted out my lunch and I look forward to cooking my dinner tomorrow!
I’m back home. Brisbane is back on track now that the floods are over and everything is pretty much how I left it. I still have another post I am working on about Marina Bay Sands but that will probably come later. I figured I would get this one out of the way first. Plus, the various men’s and haute d’couture fashion week is on.
On my trip I picked up a few make up items which I had been meaning to purchase at duty free. First item is this Shu Uemura Face Architect Illuminating Moisture Fluid Foundation (what a mouthful!). I remember trying it at the store and feeling wow, I don’t know that I’ve got foundation on. My powder foundation, now that it is summer, feels heavy and sometimes looks cakey. I haven’t tried this out yet in the Australian weather but will let you know.
Next is an Asian duty free exclusive, Shu Uemura The Art of Travel make-up palette. It comes with 4 eyeshadow colours, a gel liner, a blush and highlight. It also includes 2 mini brushes and knowing how awesome Shu Uemura brushes are these will definitely not disappoint.
The last thing I got was the quad palette from M.A.C. It is part of their collection, Cham Pale. I love the colours and how easy it glides onto the eye. The colours are perfect for work.
Took a walk around town today and picked these up from Sportsgirl. A steal at only a total of $13.90. The powder is a eye and cheek shimmer in peach ($9.95) and the other is a nail polish in caramel ($3.95). I have been greatly surprised at the quality. I have an eye shimmer which glides on beautifully. Much better than the stuff I got from Sephora.
I went for a facial yesterday and my face is still quite red. I went in to Pure Indulgence yesterday and had their Signature Facial. It was a pretty decent relaxing session. It involved at least 3 massages, a cleanse and a mask. I had quite a lot of build up of stuff from a year of not having regular facials and it felt so good to wash it all away. I had a fair bit of congestion around the mouth and chin and I have to say the scrub mask helped to take it away. I guess I might go in again for their Pure Facial which also involves extraction. I love having a good extraction session just to pull out all the gunk that gets built up from all the make up and products that gets put on the face.
After the facial, several products were recommended to me and I decided to get 2 of them. One was Yuva’s H20 Serum which I now use as my night serum. It is not drying and does not have a sticky feeling like some other serums have.
I also picked up a new exfoliator by Dermalogica, Daily Microfoliant. I used it this morning and thought it was great. I love the feeling after.
It is a rice-based enzyme powder and it is quite gentle. I have this thing about exfoliators being grainy and coarse but this wasn’t. However, it did feel pretty cleansing. Now I have to figure out what to do with my Biotherm Clarifying Exfoliating Gel which I had bought a few weeks earlier.
Anyway, I think I am going to head out for some lunch and continue the hunt for a cheap matte eyeshadow.
I had run out of foundation and decided to try something else. I had previously been using M.A.C Mineralize Foundation Powder. It was great but I felt like a change. I decided to go with Shu Uemura‘s White Recovery EX+ whitening powder foundation with SPF26 (unfortunately I can’t find it on any of their product sites).
One thing that really stood out was the fact that it was able to hide my red cheeks. I had a few drinks before hand and my face was quite rosy. The girl at the counter applied a small amount to my cheeks and viola, it was gone. That sold me. The powder provides full coverage without feeling heavy and I still feel like my face can breathe. Perfect for someone like me who is pretty active and is outside a fair bit. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who wants a one step foundation process. The only setback was the price. At $75 for 12g, it was pricy. If you haven’t used their foundation before, you will have to purchase the case as well as it does not come in one for an additional $25. Anyway, to me, I think this was a worthwhile purchase.
